Cultural Immersion
The cultural immersion pillar of Dandjoo Darbalung facilitates the sharing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture within St Catherine’s College and with the wider community to elevate, celebrate and educate on a wider and inclusive scale.
In College Experiences
The Dandjoo Darbalung Program seeks to share Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture within the College environment through peer-led events throughout the year. Sharing experiences facilitating cultural awareness and safety is a cornerstone of College life. These events seek to equip students with skills and knowledge they can use to build on further in their life after College.
In 2022, we launched the Cultural Perspectives Program for our non-Indigenous residents to gain a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Click here to find out more.
Community Engagement
The Dandjoo Darbalung Program facilitates mentoring opportunities to metro, rural and remote communities to showcase student lived experiences and positive role modelling. Dandjoo Darbalung students are taught how to lead and facilitate activities with schools, companies, and the wider community, generating empowerment for both students and participants alike. This aids with gaining a deeper understanding of Indigenous cultures for all involved.
