When moving into St Catherine’s College, you should bring your own linen (sheets, pillows, blankets), personal items (clothing, toiletries), and any study materials you might need. The rooms come semi-furnished, so you may want to bring decorations or additional items to make the space feel more like home.
You will also need to bring formal attire and appropriate footwear for events such as the Welcome Reception, Valedictory Dinner and Formal Hall. This includes:
Cocktail dresses
Formal shoes - flat or heeled
Button-up shirts
Dress pants
Dress shoes
What should I not bring when I move in?
When moving into St Catherine's College, there are a few things you might want to avoid bringing:
Pets. Animals and pets are not allowed. However, staff members regularly bring in their well-behaved dogs which you can take for a walk or stop and pat.
Large furniture. Our rooms are semi-furnished and include as a standard a bed, desk, study chair and cupboards. Bringing oversized furniture would not be practical.
Appliances not allowed in Single Rooms. Residents in a Single Room must not bring kettles, toasters, rice cookers, microwaves or any such cooking implements into their rooms however residents with Studio Rooms are permitted to have these appliances as they have an exhaust fan in their kitchenettes.
When and how do I pay my fees?
You have the option to pay in full at the start of each semester or a fortnightly direct debit through PaySmart. Our Accounts Team will contact you a few weeks before your move in date with either your invoice or details on how to set up your PaySmart account.
If you have any questions regarding payment options, please contact our Accounts Team at accounts@stcats.com.au

Can I cook in my room if I have a Single Room?
For fire safety reasons, residents are not permitted to cook food or boil water in Single Rooms – doing so will set off the fire alarms and you may be liable to pay the substantial call-out cost of Fire Services (and your fellow residents will not thank you for an unscheduled fire drill!). Communal kitchenettes are provided in the main building for the preparation of snacks

The College will try to provide modified meals for those who have special diets prescribed under medical or a dietician’s supervision, or for religious observance. You must update your dietary details in the College Portal and discuss your dietary requirements with the Dean and the Catering Manager.
Please be advised that all food served is prepared and cooked in the College kitchen and usually delivered via a self-service buffet. Whilst every care is taken in the preparation of meals, the College cannot guarantee against cross-contamination of products in the servery, including nuts, dairy, egg and gluten.
Please note: if the College provides you with special order products at your request and you do not use them, the College may cancel any ongoing orders and/or charge you for wasted food.
