From resident to alumna to proud parent, Caroline Zeitler shares how St Catherine’s College continues to be part of her family’s story.
A Full Circle Moment: Caroline and Her Sons at the 2025 Welcome Reception
Why did you choose St Catherine’s College for your sons?
When we were originally looking for a place for Mitchell to live, we had no idea that St Catherine’s had become co-residential. I was delighted to find out it was an option. St Catherine’s was the first and only place we called.
What stands out most about his time at the College?
He’s had three really enjoyable years. He’s made great friends and found the support he needed, something he wouldn’t have had if he hadn’t been living at the College. His time at St Catherine’s gave him a strong network and experiences he’ll carry with him.
Did your family’s experiences shape the next decision?
When it was Zach’s turn we briefly considered St Catherine’s College Curtin but after three years of hearing Mitch’s stories about life at the UWA campus, he knew that’s where he wanted to be too. He’s had a great start and we’re looking forward to seeing him settle in and make it his own.
What does St Catherine’s offer your family?
Both boys were born in Perth but have lived in several countries because of their dad’s work. They’ve gone to international schools all their lives. St Catherine’s has been a great mix. They’ve enjoyed meeting other international residents and getting to know more Australians to learn about their own culture. That balance has been really important for them.
How does it feel to see your sons at the same College you once called home?
It’s lovely. I didn’t expect it, but it’s been special to see them experience College life in a place that meant a lot to me too.
Caroline’s story is one of many alumni connections that continue through generations. If St Catherine’s is part of your family’s story, we’d love to hear from you. Know another St Catherine’s family tradition? Let us know so we can share it in a future edition.
